It's a little more sophisticated looking and would be perfect for a holiday party.
Here's how to get this look:
You'll need a base coat, the colour of your choosing, a top coat and a metallic sharpie (these are sold in gold, silver and bronze).
I chose the colour Here Today...Aragon Tomorrow by OPI. It was featured in my Top 5 Nail Colours for Fall blog post, but I also really love it for the holidays. It's a dark, nearly black, green and works as an interesting background for this particular design.
After the base dried, I went in with a gold sharpie and created a series of horizontal lines that gradually got smaller as they climbed up my nail. I also added a tiny vertical line at the top of my nail to create a stem for the tree.
I decided to keep the tree as an accent nail. For the others, I created a vertical line overlapping a horizontal one and kept it a little offset to look like a ribbon. In the image above you can also see how a change in lighting can make the nail colour appear more green.
Let this dry for a while and then apply a top coat over the top. Without one, there is a risk of the marker rubbing off.
I hope you enjoyed this post and that you try it out for yourself. Until next time...
