Empty Products + Mini Reviews (Part 2: Body and Hair Care)
Today I’m coming at you with more empty products, this time focusing on body and hair care items (a.k.a. all the things that make me smell delicious…).
There’s not a whole lot to say about The Body Shop Body Butters aside from raving about how rich, luxurious and quick absorbing they are. They’re available in an array of long-lasting scents, but the coconut is definitely a favourite…especially during the summer months!
This product is said to have five beautifying benefits: hydrates, protects, evens, refines and corrects. It contains SPF 15 and a small amount of self-tanner. Although I never noticed a difference in colour. It did, however, make my skin look more smooth and firm, especially when focused on my glutes where cellulite is inevitable. My legs and butt looked toned and hydrated after consistent use. It has a slightly strange scent and feet a bit sticky before completely drying, but I enjoyed using this product and would definitely purchase it again.
Each year Lush comes out with some of the most amazing, limited edition, holiday themed products. They’re only available during a short period of time, and once they’re gone…they’re gone. Not only are they cute as hell, but they tend to be some of my favourites. Luckily, the Lush Rose Jam Shower Gel seems to hit stores annually around Christmas (due to popular demand) and therefore I’ve gone through a couple bottles. I’m not normally a fan of floral fragrances, but there’s something special about this one! It combines lemon, vanilla and goji berry with rose for the most beautiful, sweet and sophisticated scent. It’s a total mood booster and even lingers on the skin for hours after a shower. I have my fingers crossed that they bring it back again this year.
I’ve moved away from dry shampoos lately because I find the ‘dirtier’ my hair gets, the dryer it becomes (odd, right?). So while I absolutely love the scent of the Dove Refresh + Care Dry Shampoo, it seems to make my hair a little dull. I don’t think it’s a bad product though. The white cast is less intense than many others I have tried and it doesn’t leave a powdery feeling. It probably would work really well for someone with super oily strands.
I love the concept of using real, authentic and wholesome (R.A.W.) ingredients in beauty products. If I try to feed my body with healthy foods free of preservatives, why not treat my hair with the same care? I enjoyed using this 95% natural-origin range. Especially because of the slight honey scent, which lingered on my hair and smelt delightful.
I went through a phase with apple scented products and this Garnier duo totally satisfied my cravings. They are crisp and invigorating, but super rich and hydrating at the same time. While they did make my tresses feel incredibly soft, I felt as though my hair started to build a tolerance after a while. It seemed to become weighed down and greasier than usual. I swapped them out for a different shampoo and conditioner mid-way through each bottle to ‘shock’ my hair. But I’m sure a clarifying shampoo once a week would have done the trick. Let me know what your favourites clarifying shampoos are (I’ve actually never tried any)!
This is a total throwback for me and brings memories of summer many years ago. It’s such a nice fruity fragrance with a hint of vanilla…right up my alley! I enjoyed using the rollerball for travel and it was a great way to test the perfume. I’m not sure if I’m interested at the moment. But I foresee myself buying a full-size bottle sometime in the future.
This one shouldn’t come as much of a surprise…it’s been in empty posts before and I featured it during “Fragrance Week” as my signature scent. I have another bottle on the go. Therefore I’m still super obsessed with the vanilla, cotton candy perfume that seems to have a hint of liquorice.
It may seem like an odd thing to show you what antiperspirant I use. But I’m sure some of you may be interested. No? Well I’m telling you all about it anyways…
I’m a very sweaty person and I swear by these Secret Clear Gel deodorants to keep me smelling fresh and clean! While the Va Va Vanilla scent is pretty incredible, I actually don’t have a favourite. They all smell wonderful if you ask me! I personally like the wet application, which goes on clear and dries quickly, preventing unwanted white marks from transferring on to shirts. It also doesn’t crumble or cling to the armpit – a total pet peeve of mine when using solid deodorants. It’s actually quite soothing…especially on freshly shaven pits.
I hope you enjoyed this second round of empty products. If you missed the first, where I talk about everything skincare related, click here.
