LUSH Fresh Face Mask Review + 5 Pot Program
LUSH 5 Pot Program
Did you know that LUSH will accept five of their black pots (empty and clean, of course) in exchange of a Fresh Face Mask FOR FREE? The innovative containers are made of 100% recycled plastic, and therefore the pots collected from customers can be remolded and re-used. It’s a win-win situation! Who doesn’t like testing new products…especially if they’re free?! It’s even more satisfying knowing it’s reducing our carbon footprint at the same time.
I’ve been collecting these little ‘green’ pots for a while now and finally ventured into a store to trade them in for a Fresh Face Mask. I have yet to try any of these preservative-free masks, and so for my first experience I opted for one that would do a little bit of everything. Cleanse, but be gentle on my skin and hydrating at the same time. I chose Love Lettuce, which is also a LUSH best seller. It’s suitable for all skin types and contains Kaolin to eliminate dirt and toxins, honey to moisturize and soothe, and ground almonds to exfoliate.
Love Lettuce Fresh Face Mask
I’m not sure where the name Love Lettuce came from, as it doesn’t actually contain any leafy greens. Although the muddy green colour does make it look a whole lot like pureed lettuce…
It has a pretty strong lavender scent that concerned me at first. Not because I didn’t like how it smelt, but because I’m always fearful of fragrant products causing break outs. I am happy to report that this did not! In fact, my skin was feeling slightly congested and dull, with a number of tiny blemishes beginning to form. This face mask actually helped clear my clogged pores and buff away dead cells.
It’s important to keep any LUSH Fresh Face Mask refrigerated. They are made with REAL ingredients that may expire if stored otherwise. Don’t get me wrong, I love that it’s super natural, but the one downside is that it can only be used for a few weeks before going bad (even when stored in a fridge).
Keeping it in the refrigerator, however, only adds to the experience! I love how cool and refreshing it feels when I apply a layer to my face. Love Lettuce has a bit of a mousey texture, with pretty thick chunks of of grounds almonds. It may be a bit abrasive to those with extremely sensitive skin. Personally, I enjoyed the scrubby effect and the addition of almond oil helped to make my skin feel less stripped and slightly hydrated once rinsed and dried. I am very happy with this mask and can’t wait to test out more!
In case you were wondering, here’s a list of the products/pots I used up and exchanged:
- Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner
- Angels On Bare Skin Cleanser
- H’Suan Wen Hua Hair Treatment
- Skin Drink Moisturizer x2 (I think one was used and donated by Dev)
