I've been collecting these little 'green' pots for a while now and finally ventured into a store to trade them in for a Fresh Face Mask. I have yet to try any of these preservative-free masks, and so for my first experience I opted for one that would do a little bit of everything - cleanse, but be gentle on my skin and hydrating at the same time. I chose Love Lettuce, which is also a LUSH best seller. It's suitable for all skin types and contains Kaolin to eliminate dirt and toxins, honey to moisturize and soothe, and ground almonds to exfoliate.
I'm not sure where the name Love Lettuce came from, as it doesn't actually contain any leafy greens. Although the muddy green colour does make it look a whole lot like pureed lettuce...
It has a pretty strong lavender scent that concerned me at first, not because I didn't like how it smelt, but because I'm always fearful of fragrant products causing break outs. I am happy to report that this did not! In fact, my skin was feeling slightly congested and dull, with a number of tiny blemishes beginning to form. This face mask actually helped clear my clogged pores and buff away dead cells.
Keeping it in the refrigerator, however, only adds to the experience! I love how cool and refreshing it feels when I apply a layer to my face. Love Lettuce has a bit of a mousey texture, with pretty thick chunks of of grounds almonds, which may be a bit abrasive to those with extremely sensitive skin. Personally, I quite enjoyed the scrubby effect and the addition of almond oil helped to make my skin feel less stripped and slightly hydrated once rinsed and dried. I am very happy with this mask and can't wait to test out more!
