Hello 2018! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and partied hard on New Years Eve! Personally, my holidays were quite busy, but in the best way possible - Dev and I officially became homeowners!! We received the keys to our home on December 29 and have been busy shopping at IKEA, building furniture, cleaning, painting, packing and unpacking.
I had hoped to get this post up sooner but there are just not enough hours in a day! I'm planning on writing a similar post featuring my favourite high-end discoveries of 2017, but I can't make any promises! All of my makeup has been packed away and by the time I find everything, take photos and sit down to write, I'm worried we'll be deep into the new year and the post may no longer be relevant. Let me know if it's something you would like to read regardless of when it gets posted.
Anyhoo...long intro over, here are some of my favourite product discoveries of 2017:
I'm all for quick and easy makeup that will get me out the door faster in the mornings and this Revlon Colourstay Crème Eye Shadow is perfect for swiping all over the lid. It's such a beautiful metallic champagne colour and stays put without creasing.
ColourPop is not a new brand for me, but this particular shade became available when the "drugstore-priced" company launched at Sephora in 2017 and I've been OBSESSED with it ever since! Similar to the Revlon ColourStay Crème Eye Shadow, it's super easy to swipe all over the lid - I like to use my fingers for maximum opacity - and looks great with any lip colour! It's basically all I've used towards the end of the year, and when I packed all of my makeup away, I set aside a few key products that I'd need to create an everyday look and this stunner was one of them! Along with concealer and mascara, of course!
Being X Sanctuary Spa Salted Caramel & Macadamia Bubble Bath
I didn't think I would ever cheat on my beloved LUSH Bubble Bars, but this particular product made me do it! The salted caramel and macadamia scent is insanely delicious! The bubbles aren't quite the same, but the yummy fragrance is definitely worth it!
I went through several tubes of this magical mascara in 2017 and it was definitely one of my favourite discoveries! I have an entire review (here) if you're interested! It's a little pricey for a drugstore item in my opinion (L'Oreal in general has higher prices than other drugstore brands) but luckily it goes on sale frequently. I've also noticed that it can dry out or get goopey quite quickly, but the length and volume this mascara gives my lashes is 100% worth repurchasing...over and over and over again.
This is another late discovery for me, but I've been using the e.l.f. Cosmetics Nourishing Tinted Lip Oil in Mocha non-stop since I hauled it in November. It feels so lightweight on the lips and adds a ton of shine. Plus it smells like cookies!
DECIEM The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5
I've fallen hard for The Ordinary brand and can't wait to try more products in the future, but the stand-out for me has to be the Hyaluronic Acid! I'm on my second bottle and I've even encouraged Dev to start using it too. It really helps replenish and attract moisture and I've noticed a difference in how plump and smooth my skin feels.
My go-to sheet mask for any pamper sessions is always the Garnier Moisture Bomb! It's inexpensive (regular $4.99, but I generally find mine on sale at Walmart or Shoppers Drug Mart for $2.99) and I really love how saturated it is. It contains Hyaluronic Acid (ya baby!) and helps boost moisture for softer, more hydrated skin.
Wet n Wild MegaGlo Highlighting Powder in Precious Petals
For just $5, this highlighter takes the cake! It's really pigmented and applies nicely to the skin without looking powder-y or chunky. I also personally like the pink tone of this particular shade and find that it lasts pretty much all day long on the tops of my cheekbones. Sometimes I'll even use it lightly as a blush topper!
Before signing off today I want to thank you all for taking the time to read my posts! I can't wait to produce more content for you in 2018, but please bare with me while I settle into my new place and get organized. I may not be able to stick to my regular posting schedule, but I promise I won't be M.I.A. for too long.
