You may have seen this little pink sachet in my latest post (Everything I Bought During My First Trip to ULTA). I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks now and I have some thoughts that I wanted to share with you.
Firstly, I’m obsessed with the scent! It may not be everyone’s cup of tea (because it’s coffee) but I personally love the scent of coffee mixed with orange. It’s a great pick-me-up fragrance in the morning and simply makes me feel happy.
Secondly, I love the marketing ploys. Using tag lines like “Guess what? You’ll be naked in one minute”, “Tear my top off” and “Lose the pants, you don’t need them where we’re going. Destinations: babe town” is daring but it pays off. I think they’re such cute additions. Plus the packaging is pink, and if you can’t tell by my blog’s colour theme, I like pink!
Now, let’s talk about the ingredients and what this product does…
In addition to ground Robusta coffee beans, the frank body Original Coffee Scrub contains organic cacao extract, cold pressed sweet almond oil, cold pressed macadamia oil and sea salt. Coffee is proven to stimulate blood flow and can improve the appearance of cellulite. Its gritty texture helps remove dry skin. Cacao contains more antioxidants than blueberries. It can protect against premature aging and helps heal scars faster. Almond oil is high in Vitamin A, D and E, making it perfect to help hydrate and nourish the skin after it’s been buffed. Finally, macadamia oil is rich in omega-3 and omega-6, which further helps to make the skin feel soft and smooth.
For best results, the company suggests using it 2-3 times a week.
I personally concentrate it on my bottom and the insides of my legs to eliminate stretch marks and unwanted cellulite. Especially as we approach summer and short/bikini season, I want my booty to look more firm. I know squats are probably the best answer, but this girl goes through lazy spells! So if I can do something simply by rubbing a delicious smelling coffee mixture on my butt, I’m 100% going to do it!
Even after a couple of weeks I’ve noticed a difference in the texture of my skin. My badonkadonk isn’t exactly round and taught, but it definitely feels less dry and therefore looks healthier. I’m excited to see what continued use will do. I would love if it helped improve the appearance of some stretch marks I have on my inner thighs.
Unfortunately, despite so many pros, there comes a few cons…
- This stuff is super messy!! I actually forgot to rinse down my shower after the first time I used it and Dev yelled with concern when he stepped into a gritty mess.
- I also don’t like how that the company recommends to wait 3 minutes before rinsing it off. While the benefits are probably worthwhile, I get cold…and I hate being cold!
- Finally, I somewhat disliked the resealable pouch. I know it helps keep the ingredients fresh, but it’s hard to seal when your hands are covered in coffee grounds.
I didn’t want to be a fan of this product because it is quite pricey (3.53oz is $12.71 CAD). Unfortunately, I’ve fallen in love! However, I’ve taken it upon myself to try and replicate a DIY version. Would you like to see that? I’ll be sure to share the recipe once I’ve mastered it! Although part of me feels that purchasing the ingredients necessary and taking the time to grind everything together may not be worthwhile. The frank body Original Coffee Scrub is definitely convenient and a hit in my books if you’re willing to splurge a little!
