The Monthly Bucket – 10 Things To Do In JUNE
“It is the month of June,
The month of leaves and roses,
When pleasant sights salute the eyes and pleasant scents the noses.”
– Nathaniel Parker Willis
See what’s on my to-do list for June, the gateway to summer.
1. See the Phantom of the Opera
I bought my Mom tickets for the Phantom of the Opera at the Princess of Wales theatre in Toronto as a Christmas gift. It feels like that was ages ago, but we finally go see the show on June 20. I’ve only ever seen the movie and it’s one of my favourites! We have both taken time off work and I’m looking forward to our mother-daughter date.
2. Make Popsicles
There are so many interesting recipes for popsicles on Pinterest! Now that the weather is warming up scorching, I want to make (and eat) them all!
3. Attend the Atelier Collective Conference (June 14)
Dev’s sister, Ashlee, and I are looking forward to attending this conference mid-June to learn from some really impressive women and entrepreneurs. Speakers include Tori Wesszer, Shay Merritt, Mindy Crawford and Mackenzie Dempsey of ‘Team Jilly’ and JillianHarris.com. It’s hosted at Ravine Vineyard Estates Winery, which is one of my favourite spots to eat and drink. I’m sure it will be a fun and inspiring day!
4. See Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdon (June 22)
I remember watching the first Jurassic World movie in Portugal last year. Dev and cuddled up on lawn chairs, under the stars, on the terrace of our Airbnb and put the movie on an iPad. It was a moment I will never forget and one reason why I have such fond memories of the dinosaur movie. However, I remember truly liking the storyline, actors and cinematography too. Which makes me wonder if I’ll enjoy the second one just as much.
5. Read a Book
This is something I haven’t done in a LONNNNNNG time! My problem is, I’m not sure what to read! Hit me up with some suggestions!
6. Attend the Liquid Arts Festival
Presented by Hamilton’s own Collective Arts Brewing (one of our favourites), this two-day event will feature 50 different brewers, live music, yoga, food trucks, and live mural art. It’s taking place on June 15 and 16 in Hamilton.
7. Go for a Picnic
I should be more specific…
I hope to pack a picnic for four (to feed myself, Devon and our two friends that also own kayaks) to take to Christie Lake Conservation Area. I want to go for a paddle on the water, take a break to eat some food, and then hike through the forest while the boys play disc golf. Overall, I just want to spend an entire day outside and not have to worry about leaving to feed our bellies.
8. Attend the Sound of Music Festival
You can take the girl out of Burlington, but you can’t take Burlington out of the girl. HUH? Does that even make sense?
What I mean is…the Sound of Music Festival is a tradition. It doesn’t matter who is playing. I love heading down to the waterfront to listen to performances along the street, eat a buttery corn on the cob, and contemplate one of the sketchy carnival rides.
9. Host a Friendly BBQ
We recently invested in a barbecue and I can’t wait to host friends and family.
10. Celebrate Father’s Day
Last month I celebrated my Mom for Mother’s Day. This month, I get to thank my Dad for all he does. I’m not quite sure how we’ll spend time together just yet, but he also owns a kayak, so maybe we’ll go for a paddle.
