Everyone and their mother, grandmother, dog and frog, loves the Stila Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow or Shimmer & Glow Liquid Eye Shadows. So why have I waited so long to try them? You guys know this one…I’m cheap! It’s extremely hard for me to fork over $31 (CAD) for one eyeshadow colour.
But I was lucky enough to receive one from my visit to the Shoppers Drug Mart BeautyBoutique Lounge during TIFF, and I have a confession. It’s BOMB!!!! It’s unlike anything I’ve ever tried before. It’s wet at first, but applies like melted butter and dries down fairly quick, leaving behind gorgeous pigment that will stay all day (haha, did you catch that play on Stila words?). I use the flat doe foot applicator it comes with to swipe the product directly onto my lids, and use my finger or a brush to blend it out. The shimmer and colour is packed into a clear base, which means it can be built up to a desired opacity. A small amount leaves behind a sheer hint of colour, while a thick layer (or two) packs a serious punch.
Don’t mind the greasy hairdo and ogre-ish appearance below, but the photo shows how pretty a little amount blended all over the lid can look.

It’s worth every penny! And therefore, I have finally entered the outrageous (yet beautiful) world of feeling the need to collect them all.
I have the colour Cloud, which is the most beautiful lavender taupe with gold reflects. I’m definitely a purple eyeshadow gal, so this shade is right up my alley! The minute I swiped it on, I literally gasped at how pretty it looked. I then received comments all day long about how great my eyeshadow was. It’s seriously hard to capture the beauty of it in a couple of photos, as it looks different at all angles and in different light. But trust me…IT”S DANG PRETTY!
There are a couple of bones I could pick though:
- If I apply too thick of a layer on my eyelid, it burns.
- I get quite a bit of sparkle fallout on my cheek area.
Otherwise, this is a solid formula and I definitely want to buy more. I especially want to try one of the Glitter & Glow colours, as they seem to be even more sparkly (and perfect for the holidays).
