With the number of beauty products I test out every year, there’s generally a few things I end up wishing I hadn’t spent my money on. Here are four of my most recent regrets:
Frank Body Original Coffee Scrub
I don’t hate the scrub itself. I actually enjoyed it enough to use every last granule up. However, I despise how messy it can be! It covers my all-white shower and tub in specks of brown that seem to hang around for weeks despite spraying the walls down before exiting. I’m also not a fan of the packaging. It’s difficult to dig my hand into. The zipper is nearly impossible to close with coffee grounds in the way. Water trickles inside, making the product itself a muddy mess and a totally different consistency than when I first brought it home. It just isn’t the most user friendly. Perhaps it would be better if it came with a scoop on the side (or if I used a spoon). But I would rather it be in a jar with a twist on lid.
LUSH Bunny Moon Jelly Face Mask
It’s a fun concept, but the baby powder scent of this jiggly face mask is too strong for my liking. I think I used it twice before it expired. What a shame…
Essence Make Me Brow Eyebrow Gel in Browny Brows
This product is surprisingly great! The colour is just very wrong for me. I should have grabbed the one called Soft Browny Brows, which would have been a little lighter, warmer in tone and less harsh. Otherwise, I do think this brow gel is a steal at $3.99. It can be found at Shoppers Drug Mart and although slightly different, it has strong similarities to a well-known high-end counterpart. Do you know the brand I’m talking about?
Makeup Revolution Vivid Baked Highlighter in Radiant Lights
This highlighter is just bad. It’s chalky, chunky and the pinky undertone shows up ashy on my skin. It also lacks pigment. Which means in order to get it to show up, I have to pile on practically 100 layers. It ends up sitting on top of my skin and looking more cake-y than the natural lit-from-within glow I’m going for. I don’t think it’s a good pick for someone with dry skin, but it may work better for those with a more oily complexion.
