I thought my last monthly favourites post was the biggest…and then March happened. Let’s just say, it has been a good month for beauty products! There are a few products that entered my life towards the end of the month, but I’m so impressed and I already know they are going to be staples in my routine. You’ll also read about some older products that I have re-discovered, as well as some newer products that I’ve been using non-stop all month long.
I’ve been using this hair spray for probably 6 months now, and I have no idea why I’ve waited so long to talk about it. I have really flat and thin hair, but this hairspray has been really amazing for upping my styles. I like to lift up the top layer of my hair and apply it to the roots as a thickening texture spray. It adds a SHIZZZZ TON of volume, but leaves my hair feeling soft, not crunchy.
I’ve painted my nails more this month than I did all last year because of this top coat! I wrote an entire review on it – if you missed it, click here – and I’m floored at how fast it dries! It makes giving myself a manicure less of a chore, and makes my colour last for at least a week without any chipping.
I’ve steered away from powders lately because they can look a little chalky on my dry skin. But I recently pulled out this little compact and I’m enjoying how it looks. I actually use the sponge/puff it comes with, and apply the tiniest amount by gently pressing it into my skin. I find if I use it with a brush it can look a little cake-y. But when applied correctly, it makes my under eye area look pretty much flawless and prevents my concealer from creasing. It also helps mattify the rest of my face and blur my pores.
I have to be careful when using this cleanser around my eyes because it can sting. I don’t avoid the eye area entirely though because…mascara. But I do make sure I keep my eyes shut tight and ensure the cleanser is rinsed away before opening them again. It does a really great job getting rid of all my makeup and even though it’s a gel wash, I don’t feel like my skin feels dry or tight after using it.
These next few products are ones that I received when I placed an order on www,beauty.shoppersdrugmart.ca a week or so ago. I’ve used the ORIGINS Drink Up…longest name ever…Mask before, so I already knew I would love it. But man, did I underestimate how much I missed this stuff! Firstly, it smells AH-MAZING!!! Very fruity and bright. Secondly, it’s SUPER hydrating. The texture of the cream is not overly thick though, so it rubs in easily and a small amount goes a surprisingly long way. By the time I wake up in the morning, I can still feel it on my skin – and anyone with super dry skin will appreciate how amazing this can be!
The colour of the bullet in this tube is kind of terrifying. But I was surprised to find it applied quite sheer and translated into a beautiful bright magenta hue on the lips. It also stained my lips, making them look like I had been sucking on a popsicle all day long.
I was also slightly scared of this lipgloss at first. It’s a copper tone with tons of golden shimmer – something I would typically avoid putting on my lips. But a sheer amount is surprisingly beautiful when worn alone, and even more pretty over a lipstick. Applying too much can make it look a little metallic and alien-esk. But a light layer adds a sort of glassiness, that I really enjoy. I love the large doe foot applicator and the product itself feels slightly cooling on the lips, which I also enjoy.
This blush is PIG-MENT-ED! A little goes a long way, and even though this is just a little sample size, I doubt I’ll ever hit pan. It’s such a beautiful pinky-nude colour and matches pretty much anything. Plus, as the name would suggest, it’s very long-lasting on the skin. Even after a long day, this blush is visible on my cheeks.
Swatches from left to right: Milani Keep It Full Nourishing Lip Plumper in 02 Nude Shimmer, Maybelline Colour Sensational Shine Lipstick in Berry Blackmail and Tarte Amazonian 12-Hour Clay Blush in Paaarty.
A whole new laugh I’ve never heard before came out of my mouth while I watched this show. Devon even pointed out how ridiculous I sounded. And Mavis ditched my ass on the sofa and put herself to bed because I was interrupting her snooze.
HOLY HELL this shit is funny! It may not appeal to men, as there are jokes about her pregnancy and hemmoroids, period and the Diva Cup, and her Mom’s bush. Amy is unapologetically real, honest, and hilarious. I recommend all my female followers to give it a watch. Be prepared to laugh until you cry, and discover a new sound hidden within you, apparently.
March was the month I became addicted to caffeine. Seriously…2, 3, sometimes 4 a day! But they HAD to be the Nespresso vanilla flavour. My god they’re good! I add a dash of milk and a drizzle of honey to my cup, which help bring out even more sweetness. I’m addicted!
