End Of Year Empties

December 29, 2017

For some reason, empty products posts are my least favourite to write. I have no problem putting them off as long as possible. The empty bottles, jars and tubes always pile up and mock me every time I walk by. Yet I always wait until the bin is overflowing (and I become overwhelmed) before forcing myself to sit down and write each mini review.

But seeing as I’m moving in a week, it doesn’t make sense to pack and transport garbage, so here we are…

Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser

This cleanser is as simple as it can get. It’s not scented and it doesn’t foam, it’s not colourful, nor does it contain glitter – and that’s why I love it! It’s super gentle on the skin and although it’s not the best at removing makeup, it is good as a second step to truly clean and remove toxins from the skin.

Mario Badescu Facial Spray With Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater

I recently purchased the Mario Badescu Facial Spray With Aloe, Cucumber and Green Tea, and while it is beautiful, I have to say the Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater version is my favourite! It’s soothing and the fragrance is refreshing – like a quick trip to the spa! Check out my full review (here) to read more!

The Body Shop Pinita Colada Shower Gel

This fragrance reminds me of summer! I’m a big fan of The Body Shop shower gels and this one was deliciously fruity and a delight to use.

Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm (Travel Size)

Removing makeup with an oil or balm feels way more luxurious. It makes the process not only easier, but also much more enjoyable, and therefore I become excited to wash my face every night. It’s also a sneaky bonus step to help my skin feel more moisturized.

Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge (x2)

Applying foundation and concealer with anything but a sponge feels super strange to me. Unfortunately, I can’t justify a beautyblender every few months, so instead I opt for the more affordable (but just as good) Miracle Complexion Sponge. I have to admit, I am terrible at cleaning them after each use so sometimes they stain or get mould-y. Hence why I’m tossing two!

L’Oreal Hydra-Total 5 Ultra Even Moisturizer

This is my favourite moisturizer from the drugstore! I’ve gone through 3 tubs this year alone and until an affordable brand comes out with something new that knocks my socks off, this will continue to be my go-to.

Deciem The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5

I love this stuff so, so much and I have already purchased another. It helps my skin drink up moisture and I’ve noticed a significant difference in the overall tone. I find I’ve experienced less breakouts since I started using it too.

PS. I’m super excited to see Sephora carrying this brand now! I highly recommend checking out the entire line.

LUSH Love Lettuce Fresh Face Mask

I really enjoyed using this face mask! It’s kept in the refrigerator to ensure the all-natural and fresh ingredients don’t spoil, and therefore feels super cooling on the skin. But unfortunately it expired before I had a chance to finish it up. *Sad Face*

The Face Shop Green Tea Face Mask

Last month I had a couple of pesky spots under my skin that weren’t really pimples, but they were annoying and noticeable (especially when I wore makeup). I actually think this sheet mask helped get rid of them! It’s drenched in a green tea serum, which is said to help soothe skin irritated by environmental stressors. I enjoyed my experience using this mask and can see myself picking up more in the future!

Kirkland Signature Daily Facial Cleansing Towelettes

I honestly don’t think I will ever buy any other brand of face wipes. OK…that may be a lie…I’m sure some innovative and super interesting product will be released that I won’t be able to say not to. But until then, these are just so super affordable and they get the job done. A box costs $20 and contains a total of 150 wipes. The flip-top lid helps seal in the moisture and I recommend storing the packs upside down to ensure all of the towelettes are saturated (otherwise the first few can feel a little dry). They remove my makeup and never irritate my skin.

OPI Pink-ing of You

This is my favourite colour to wear on my toes in the summer and I’m super sad to learn that it is discontinued! It’s such a perfect, girly pink and I was hoping to pick up another bottle now that this one is empty. If you know of any similar colours, leave me a comment below!

OPI Alpine Snow

Any nail art enthusiast needs a good white nail polish! It can be used as a base or accent for the coolest designs. It’s is also a go-to of mine in the summer – I love how it looks with a tan.

Essie Matte About You Top Coat

Do you remember this post, when I confessed my love-hate relationship with matte nails? Despite the fact that they don’t last very long, I do love the look of matte nails and I will probably repurchase this top coat…

L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara

I went out and bought a second tube of this mascara immediately after I tossed this one into my empties bin. It’s one of my favourite discoveries this year and I absolutely love how thick and long it makes my eyelashes look.

Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper

You guys know this is my holy grail eye liner! There’s one in pretty much every empty products post…

Sephora Collection Cream Lip Stain (Mini) in Blackberry Sorbet

I knew the size of this product was small, but I underestimated how quick I would use it up. I guess it just goes to show how much I loved the deep, burgundy colour. I have yet to buy a full-size (especially because I’m trying to use up some lip products in my current collection) but I have no doubts that it will be in the back of my mind when the time comes to contemplate a new lip colour to buy.

Now that wasn’t so hard…

I really don’t know why I wait so long to write about my empty products. Funny enough, they’re actually some of my favourite to read or watch on YouTube. I think they’re a great way to get an idea of how a product works. And generally when something is used up entirely, it’s a good indication that it was enjoyed (or at least not totally hated). I hope you enjoyed this one!
